mup.sys is one of the last drivers loaded in safe mode. It could be another service failing right as mup.sys loads. However usually it's your video card drivers. In safe mode xp forces the current display drivers to render in vga mode. So if your display drivers are broken, safe mode isn't happening.

Resolution:

wait 10 mins or go into recovery console and disable your display drivers. Im sorry but i dont know the service name off hand, if i get time i'll look it up.

You two are missing the point, he says it only hangs on this service in SAFE MODE. It's caused by display driver problems. It is the last service starts and it's probably unrelated to his problem

Nidalap , your post just copied mine. Please do not copy my posts.

your a retard Nidalap. You posted 1 hour after me and you said the same thing i did with slightly different words. But i guess if you want to copy someone, you might as well copy the best right?

My point was simply that it only hangs on mup.sys in safe mode. In normal mode you are not hanging on mup.sys. Safe mode doesnt even load networking componants. I have never seen 1 case were safe mode hung on mup.sys because of invalid network settings.
