Will (our in-house programming expert) is ranting and raving about how great Microsoft .NET is - can YOU come up with a feature that he can implement in the new forum design? Yes, that's right...We are in the midst of designing version 2.0 of our forums, completely in ASP.NET with C# and are looking for new features to add and also to improve the ones currently there. Some of the things currently on our plate are a new search for posts, improved filters for browsing posts, e-mail alerts for replies to posts and some behind-the-scenes management features. So Will is looking for some excellent, creative and unique (as well as obvious, needed and overlooked) features to add in this revision. We'll take extra consideration into those suggestions which take advantage of some of the great things .Net has to offer. While he is currently rebuilding the foundation, please comment below with your suggestions, ideas, and even complaints (good ones though!)

Due to the fact we don't make a profit on the site - paying out for Passport (Which we would have to pay a lot out for) won't - unfortunatly - be happening.

I know Passport sign-in is out, however, would it be possible to have the site send a Windows Messenger alert if a user receives a reply to a forum post?

This second one may not be doable/going overboard, but if the first is possible, can the Alert that is sent contain the contents of the reply, and allow the Messenger user to post back to the forum (if they have a subsequent reply) through Messenger?

I don't know exactly how Messenger integration works, so this could require a plugin for Messenger. Like I said, it may be a bit too ambitious.

Email notification of thread replys is always good, too :-)
