If i understand your post correctly: Recovery CD's @ssume that there is something to recover. You mention that you removed everything so there is nothing to recover. So, reinstall your system, with the Windows CD's and not with the recovery CD's.
Originally Posted by silvia1960: I just purchased the 13 CD set of compaq recovery cds. After I put in the first CD, a message came on telling me that the recovery cannot continue because NTDRL file is missing. My computer has no OS and wont boot up at all. This all started when I removed the CD burning software that came with the computer originally and thats where my troubles began. Apparently when I removed this, some important stuff went with it. So, I removed everything and figured I could start from stratch, now I cant get the recovery cd s working either. I called Compaq and they were absolutely of no help whatsoever. Does anyone have any clue as how to get this computer working again?
Buy a legit copy of Windows Vista. Chances are that the disk you used was for his specific computer, and doesn't install on any other. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
