Hello I'm new here, so if I've posted in the wrong place, I'm sorry.
OK, let me give you some background info first so your not asking lots of questions. This is how my 'little' network is setup. I have a Modem which goes into my Router, which Port 1 of my Router goes into my Dad's computer and Port 2 goes into my computer. Now, all this is wired by the way. So as my wire has to travel over 10m my mum will only let me have one going into my room, so I thought ICS.
OK, now that's over with, here's what I want to do. I currently only have 1 ethernet slot in the back of my computer so I can use a Ethernet-to-USB converter which you plug the Ethernet cable into and then the USB into the computer. Fine, the connection is working ok like this. Now I want to plug a Ethernet cable from my Computer into my PS2 (Playstation 2) for Online Play. The PS2 acts exactly the same as a computer so I've been told how to set it up and all that and apparently I need a cross-over cable, for the ICS. Is this true? I'm not hard-up but I don't want to go and waste 5 or 10 pounds. So my question is, is this what I need a Crossover cable? Because I have a spare ethernet cable and tried using that and it didn't work, so my guess is that the person who told me that I need a Cross-Over cable is probably right. Is he?
Cheers, Luke.
