Hi everyone. I am living in an apartment-style dorm, and the ethernet port in my room is wonky. I have an Airport base station that can hook into it, and that works with my Powerbook G4 perfectly. However, when I disconnect the Airport and plug the cord into the back of my HP Pavilion 541c tower...nothing. I've tried two different cables, a restart, and a shut-down-boot-up-holding-shift. As you can probably tell, I'm not very PC savvy - this one came to me @ssort of a gift, and I'm just trying to figure it out. Any suggestions? How do I get this PC hooked into the internet port?

Did you check Apple's website/support for @ssistance? ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

No no, it's the PC I need help with. All the Apple stuff works fine. I run a cord from the back of the HP Pavilion 541c into a wall socket (the same cord that the Airport was using) and nothing. The computer does not think it is plugged in to the internet. [emote|:(] What's wrong with it?

Two things to check - first, try a different ethernet cable. If that doesn't work, double check the NIC on the HP to make sure that it is functioning correctly. Also, double check your internet connection settings in WinXP. If necessary, run the internet connection wizard just in case the HP had different DNS settings already set up. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 1800 - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Live Value; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100
