I would want to try safe mode, however the windows installer service is not started in safe mode. Since office uses the windows installer service, we'll have to scratch that.
Searching support.microsoft.com on just "error 1305" i found these articles: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q248263 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q218617 If you havent tried that go ahead and go through that article. Also scan for viruses. Some viruses cause havok with windows installer service, such as sircam. Go to http://housecall.antivirus.com , click on 'scan without registering' and follow the prompts. If you dont find a virus on your pc, post the event logs. To do so right click my computer > manage > event viewer > right click on application, left click on 'save as' or whatever it says, and post the logs here.
