Hi, I'm new here and not sure where to post a couple (maybe a few things) #1 I have an old Dell that I'm re-installing Win98se on. Only problem right now is I have about 1,000 jpegs and tried Pic@ssa but, would not work (even though they have a version for 98) I don't want to lose these pictures. Any advice there? #2 I've been working on fixing people's computers and it's a nice little side job but, I want to do the job right. I keep getting (I feel so stupid right now) but, I'm curious abou this. I'll log onto this computer here that I'm working on and after www.yahoo.com there is this: www.yahoo.com?rs=1 The owner is a friend of mine and I want to make sure this is OK. It comes and goes and I was wondering what it is. Probably something that means nothing. I don't like it though. Finally, where would be an appropriate place to post to ask for help with my daughter's laptop ............ Thanks in advance, Mari I am sorry I'm probably not in the right spot here for these posts. I'm new though so I can get a break I guess......... ---------------------------------------------- Live And Let Live

1. Backup your images to either an external HD or DVD (@ssuming your computer has a DVD writable drive) 2. That's a redirect to a specific page based on cookies installed on the computer 3. Yes - it's ok as about your daughter's laptop - recommend placing questions in the appropriate forum though. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100
Hi, Thanks a lot for the reply. I appreciate it. I don't have a writable drive.....I know that's pretty bad. I didn't want to pay for an external HD but, I have been getting more and more work so, it would be a good investment. I just used Kodak and emailed 20 pictures @ a time. Was tiring. I was in the computer field and left and came back. So, I am a bit of a beginner again. the ?rs thing was just bothering me. I figured it was nothing. I figured it would not hurt to ask someone who knows a lot more than me though. Thank you! I don't go to too many sites - I like tech support guy forums and then somehow found this site. I like it a lot. I'll find the correct place to post regarding my daughter's laptop. (I call it the craptop) I'm getting her a Sony for her b-day. [emote|(^)] In the meantime, she needs some help though. If I can't figure it out (which I don't have a lot of confidence especially with laptops) I'll be posting. Great site here. ---------------------------------------------- Live And Let Live

As far as a laptop goes, I'd strongly recommend something other than Sony. Take a look at HP, Toshiba or Gateway laptops if you're looking at getting it from a retail outlet ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway Performance 700C - P4 1.8gz, 1gig RAM, nVidia 5200; SB Audigy SE; Windows Vista Business, Photoshop CS2, Nikon D200 and D100

I have an old one around here somewhere as well. Hate it. Gateway I like. Dell I've always favored. I was going to buy a brand new one. Maybe I should go for refurbished. Her college is killing me....... If I knew how to work on them and fix them I wouldn't go for brand new. She uses her laptop mostly at home so I did hint around to her about forgetting about a laptop. She's hooked though. I posted in XP I'm going to go check it out. I'd forgotten about Gateway. Thanks for the suggestions and your help! Much appreciated! ---------------------------------------------- Live And Let Live
