| Hi, I'm new to the forum - but it would be great if someone could help me! I've been looking around and trying solutions for past 4 days but none that I tried seems to be working. I started experiencing the problems after I replaced my ADSL with a VDSL. It's from the same telephone company in Japan - NTT - and their VDSL is called B Flets (just some additional information) The OS I'm currently running under is Windows XP SP2. Here's the problem I am experiencing: I can browse through internet on IE / Firefox just fine. It's just that I can't access internet through another program - such @ssteam client (for Counter Strike Source), MSN Live Messenger, or Limewire. All of these programs instantly reject my attempt at connecting - when I click on Logon from Steam, a box would appear almost instantaneously that it "Could not connect to the Steam Network." Similarly, when I try to log into MSN messenger, the program automatically pops up a message saying that it could not log me into MSN messenger (error code: 80072745) Same thing happens to almost all programs, with the exception of Limewire - which just never connects even after hours. The bizarre thing is that I didn't have this problem until I changed from ADSL to VDSL. So much for the speed increase they promised! I tried calling NTT, but they don't have any English speaking @ssistants, so I can't get much help from them. I am using Buffalo BBR-4HG Router - but the internet h@ssame problems with or without the router, so I don't think it has to do with the router itself. Here are the solutions that I have tried so far but didn't work: - Forwarding necessary ports for each programs via router (+ my Windows Firewall is never on nor do I have any extra fw) - Editing the HOSTS file for MSN Live messenger - turning on UPnP - restarting or re-setting up the router, the vdsl, or the network connection (I've done this countless times) It would be so great if someone could help [emote|:(] Thanks! |
