Hi there...
i am having problems connecting my two home computers together in a network.
i have one computer running vista and one running xp.
one has a wireless network card and the other has no connection to the internet.
i want to use one computer for daily use and the other to download stuff onto, and i want to be able to access this from the other computer.
how can i set up a network using a router (or not) so that i can share files between these two computers...
thanks guys

If you're using a wireless router, first make sure that it supports WPA2 security and enable that. You'll also want to enable MAC address filtering (the manual for the router will explain how to configure the router for these).
Next, run the network setup wizard on both computers and choose the same workgroup name. WinXP and Vista both have good help files describing how to do this.
To share files/folders/printers, you'll enable file and printer sharing. Then, right click on which folder you want to share.

First, how does your wireless computer connect to the internet? Did your ISP provide you with a wireless router, or...you'd better not be sponging off of a neighbor.
As to the second computer, I'm @ssuming it has an ethernet card - one where you can plug it directly into a router. You'll need a CAT5 cable. To make it wireless, you'll have to purchase a wireless network card.
