So. The other day I tried to "clean up" my cache and began deleting things from the temp internet files like crazy. My machine is running XP Home with IE6. I screwed something up. Now I cannot download ANYTHING from the internet while I'm logged on as myself on the computer ... I just had the "brilliant" idea of changing the the user ... and "Voilá!" As "Guest" the Internet Explorer 6 works PERFECTLY .... Any suggestions on how to restore my IE as myself ? ... Can I copy and paste from the "GUEST" profile? I'm not sure if I really want IE7, but if that's the only option, would downloading and installing it correct the problems? Does it remove completely and install completely when you upgrade from IE6 to IE7? or should I Download IE7 to my HD, uninstall IE6 then run the IE7 installation? *** I prefer working with IE6 if at all possible. I'd REALLY like to resotre IE6 instead of changing to IE7 .... This may be a hint as to what/where I screwed something up: When I log onto my Gmail account, I instantly receive a warning message at the top of the screen that tells me that "Your browser's cache is full and may interfere with your experience." My Browser's cache is not full ... but I may be missing essential folders that would act as a cache .... I dunno. I look forward to any suggestions ... thanks!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: While comparing the content between the "Guest" and my personal profile of the files in the route (C:\Documents and Settings\Guest\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files) I found the folder named "Content.IE5" that has 4 folders inside as well as one "Index file". In my profile, there was no "Content.IE5" folder here ... I just copied and pasted it with all it's contents, restarted the computer and still ... no luck. Going back to "Guest" and looking in the route: (C:\Documents and Settings\Invitado\Configuración local\Temp) I found 3 temp files, 2 log files and an empty folder named WPDNSE. In my profile, this TEMP folder contains 4 folders (that all look like the ones that should be in the Content.IE5 folder) there are the following: 1) Temporary Internet Files 2) Cookies 3) Historial 4) WPDNSE as well as 4 temp files and 3 log files ... I don't know if things have gotten really mixed up or what. HELP! (and thanks.)

While waiting for advice I found this on the Microsoft site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378/en-us How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP ___________________________________________________________ Windows XP and Windows XP SP1: Edit the registry and install Internet Explorer 6 Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. When you try to reinstall the same version of Internet Explorer, you may receive the following error message: Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on this system. Setup cannot continue. To avoid this error message and reinstall the same version of Internet Explorer and Outlook Express, follow these steps: 1. While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then click Run. 2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK. 3. Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify. To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP, use the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383} To reinstall only Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP, use the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C} 4. Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK. 5. Quit Registry Editor, and then install Internet Explorer 6. ************************* I'm not too sure how to do all of this. Are they talking about installing from my Windows CD that came with my machine when I bought it? Is that where I install the Internet Explorer from? Are they any tips or tricks to this so Ï don't run any crazy risks? **********************
