| I have a Wireless DLink router with 2 wired connections. I have had many people come into the house, I give them the passphrase, they sign on no problem and have full Internet access. I bought a Wireless-G USB adapter. Kind of a generic usb adapter, It works on my Desktop that is wired to the router (i obviously disconnect the wired lan connection). When I put this Adapter on a Thinkpad, it connects fine to the network, says great signal strength but it doesnt see anything on my network nor can it get to the Internet. I even tried to connect to my router at 192.168.0.1 and it cant find the server, same message when I try websites. I checked my TCP settings and even tried to assign the DNS to the router (192.168.0.1) and yet no help. I even deleted and installed all of XP on this small laptop. Remember this adapter works on my desktop. Any help is really really appreciated. | If it works using a wired connection, but not wireless, then it's either not functioning correctly, or there's a configuration issue. | But other wireless computers connect and have web access is what confuses me. I am goingto verify that again today in fact in about an hour when my daughter brings her laptop with built in wireless here. I tried to move the USB device to another desktop and it did the same indications (DT works with Lan, not with wireless usb and I get the same message that windows could not find a certificate). I have gone to the admin page of the router and seen that the laptop connects wirelessly and that it has an IP address but that is all that is says. | XMan - good idea that you tested it on another desktop. It sounds like the wireless capabilities of this USB hub are kaput.
