Very dangerous advice dealth!

Here's why you should NEVER do a reinstall first:

-reinstalling deletes all the system restore points
-reinstalling wont fix a shutdown issue
-if the reinstall has problems, she might have to parallel install, in other words she'll be stuck!

So think twice before doing that! Ive seen so many people get screwed reinstalling windows.

To really fix your problem, follow my advice below. In the future before posting search previous posts in case the question has been answered before. Enabling APM will NOT fix your issue. APM will only fix issues wheren you click on turn off computer, and xp doesnt auto power off, ie you get the screen "it is not safe to turn off your pc". Your not getting that screen, so ignore that advice.

Also, if you have easy cd creator installed uninstall it.

When i said reinstall i meant in place repair, same thing. Either way my post applies to both.

If you really think reinstalling windows is the first step to troubleshooting a problem, id like you to call this person when there stuck half way through a reinstall/repair.

I'd like to see you pass a microsoft exam, hell just the A+ you would flunk that so bad.
