Hello, I recently just switch ISP's, and set up a wireless network for my desktop and laptop. (Both at home).. Everything was working, but I decided to log into my router and change to a secured network.. My lap top died as I was trying to configure everything, and it wasn't able to fini****'s procedure in changing from Unsecured to secured. I ended up just resetting my router, and now both computers pick up signal with excellent strength and connection, but my desktop will not let me use my browser.. (Lap top works perfectly fine) Desktop reads "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage"... I have tried disabling the firewall (There isn't a 3rd party firewall, just windows).. I have tried deleting temp files, cookies, cache etc... I have called my ISP, and they can get an IP address, and say the internet is working fine... Also, MSN Live Chat works fine, so I'm assuming it's an issue with IE itself?? Anybody? The router is SMS and I'm using a Belkin Wireless G Notebook adapter on my desktop.

Check with SMS on how to completely reset the router to the default settings, then start configuring it settings with either the desktop or laptop connected to it via an ethernet cable. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
Hello, Thanks for the reply.. The router is actuallly SMC not SMS as I had said in my earlier post. I followed all of the directions, and reset the router.. I have had no problems on my lap top, just my desktop, so I know it's not a router issue anymore. Do you have any other possible solutions? It's very 'touch and go' Some programs run the internet.. (IM chat, etc) Others, such as any browser (I even dl'd firefox), they will not connect and let me surf.. I'm really confused as to what to do now? Thanks for any and all of your help.

I'm assuming the desktop runs Vista also. Did you check the Vista firewall settings to see if there are any restrictions as to specific ports being blocked or ??? BTW, what antivirus/internet security suite are you using? ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

Windows Internet Explorer (formerly Microsoft Internet Explorer; abbreviated to MSIE or, more commonly, IE), is a series of graphical web browsers developed by Microsoft and included as part of the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems starting in 1995. It has been the most widely used web browser since 1999, attaining a peak of about 95% usage share during 2002 and 2003 with IE5 and IE6.That percentage share has since declined in the face of renewed competition from other web browsers. Its usage share now sits at approximately 50% to 60% and is slowly trending downward. Microsoft spent over $100 million a year on IE[1] in the late 1990s, with over 1,000 people working on it by 1999. ---------------------------------------------- chris
