I'm new here and know almost nothing about computers! My daughter has XP and she was having trouble...pc froze I think. She turned off the computer and when it tried to reboot, she got the error code that winsrv could not be found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. How do I fix this???

Probably the best way to fix this is to insert the WinXP CD, reboot and go into the install process and choose Repair Console. Follow the onscreen prompts. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200

If you use the repair console, then no - it's designed to repair whatever's broken. If you can get into WinXP, even through Safe Mode, it'd be a good idea to back up all of her files/data (i.e. anything under My Documents, Favorites, etc.) to an external hard drive. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows Vista Ultimate/Server 2008, Photoshop CS3, Nikon D200
