Hi - desperately looking for help as this problem has been driving me mad over the past 24hrs. I had a virus and reinstalled XP. Once installed I lost audio and an error message popped up in Device Manager as above. This relates to "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" plus another for "Modem device on High Definition Audio Bus". I assume that a driver is missing but I registered with PC Pitstop Driver Alert and carried out an initial scan then update. 16 drivers were missing and subsequently installed however the problem remains for audio as aforementioned. I have also carried out a system scan using Belarc Advisor - system details etc. are given as below. Can somebody please inform me what the problem relates to and how I can remedy it. Thanks. System details follows: Operating System System Model Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600) Install Language: English (United States) System Locale: English (United States) TOSHIBA Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E-011008EN System Serial Number: 97289911K Enclosure Type: Notebook Processor a Main Circuit Board b 1.60 gigahertz Intel Celeron M 520 64 kilobyte primary memory cache 1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache 64-bit ready Not hyper-threaded Board: TOSHIBA ISKAE 1.00 BIOS: TOSHIBA V5.20 08/16/2007 Drives Memory Modules c,d 120.03 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity 88.51 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N [CD-ROM drive] Hitachi HTS541612J9SA00 [Hard drive] (120.03 GB) -- drive 0, s/n SB2E41H7JLYPDS, rev SBDOC7DP, SMART Status: Healthy 1016 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory Slot 'M1' has 512 MB Slot 'M2' has 512 MB Local Drive Volumes c: (NTFS on drive 0) 120.03 GB 88.51 GB free Network Drives None detected Users (mouse over user name for details) Printers local user accounts last logon Administrator 12/22/2009 9:49:55 AM (admin) local system accounts Guest never HelpAssistant never SUPPORT_388945a0 never Marks a disabled account; Marks a locked account None detected Controllers Display Intel(R) 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7-M Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller - 27C4 Primary IDE Channel [Controller] Secondary IDE Channel [Controller] Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family [Display adapter] (2x) Seiko Epson 15.4 [Monitor] (15.4"vis) Bus Adapters Multimedia Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Cardbus Controller Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C8 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27C9 Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CB Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC None detected Virus Protection [Back to Top] new Group Policies AVG Internet Security Version 9.0 Virus Definitions Version Up To Date Realtime File Scanning On None discovered Communications Other Devices 1394 Net Adapter Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter primary Auto IP Address: 192.168.0.4 / 24 Gateway: 192.168.0.1 Dhcp Server: 192.168.0.1 Physical Address: 00:1B:9E:55:F0:AC Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller Dhcp Server: none responded Physical Address: 00:1B:38:46:C3:5C Networking Dns Server: 192.168.0.1 Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller Microsoft AC Adapter Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery Keyboard Device Filter Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad [Mouse] Texas Instruments PCIxx12 Integrated FlashMedia Controller SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller USB Root Hub (5x)

As this is a notebook, the best thing to do is check the manufacturer's website for current drivers. The alternative is to right click on each device, choose update driver, and let XP scan the internet for the latest driver. ---------------------------------------------- Work is for people who don't know how to surf Gateway 15.4" Laptop, Windows 7 Ultimate (including Virtual PC/XP Mode and three VM's of Server 2008), Photoshop CS4
