Let me clarify some things here :)

First, if the drive is ntfs you can delete it from xp setup or recovery console. In xp setup you just select the partition and press delete. In recovery console you type diskpart, and its the same thing. Diskpart is exactly the same thing as delpart on the win2k resource kit.

If you have an ntfs drive and want to format it as Fat16 type this in recovery console:

format c: /FS:fat

If you want to format it as fat32 you type this:

format c: /FS:Fat32

Easy isn't it ;)

If all you have is a bootdisk you might still be able to delete the ntfs partition depending on your bootdisk. Most win98/me bootdisk let you delete ntfs extended partitions. If that doesnt work just boot from the bootdisk and run this script:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q106419

There's 1 more way to wipe an ntfs partition.
