used space on my drives by 30GB...
is the backup and restore compressing data?
would it make it harder to restore in case of need?

Please help me. I need to be sure that all data is being backed up.
thank you

Yes - Win7 backup does compress data. What sort of backup are you running? i.e. creating a full system image, or selectively choosing certain folders?
