A friend and I both bought xbox's and all the periphrials that go with them, within a week of each other both of them would not eject, no error codes just will not eject even manually (bad batch of dvd readers, or eject mech's??) attampting to work with xbox aka Microsoft to correct. I would imagine that we are not the only ones to experiance this.

I live in New Zealand

I bought my XBox in Australia in March 2002 (16 months relatively problem free- occasionally disk error message - cleared by restarting (typical Microsoft!)

I now have the same problem too as many others (read XBOX disk error problems in this Forum!)

3 of 13 disks will not work although they work fine in my friend's XBOX. I will be selling my Xbox and games and sticking to PS2 and PC gaming from now on. XBox is too problematic. My PS2 is 2 years old and no probs, my PC DVD Drive is 3 years old and no problem. My "Class ACTION" IS TO GET RID OF xbOX AND RECOMMEND everyone else do the sam. Shame on microsoft. The DVD Drive is faulty on my XBOX although it is only a little over a year old! - -EmoticonParks III

I've owned my X-Box for a year and use it every day, no problems. However I've had another X-Box bought around the same time that just stopped working for no reason after one month. I think it's really hit or miss. A lot of X-Boxes are refurbished, so when an X-Box has an electrical problem like a short or something, they send it back to be refurbished and resold. The busted parts are replaced with new ones, but the problem is, if there's a defect in the X-Box, the problem will just happen again. But this is common and can happen with almost any electronics you can buy. I think there should be laws put into place to protect consumers.

But when i was in a game just last week i tryed to save a game and it would not let so i thourght that my memery was full so i tryed to get in to it and after 15 min it finely load the page and i saw that all my saved games and music was gone. And when i tryed to turn the Xbox bake on the main menu was moving at one frame at a time and if i put a game in it tells my that my Xbox needs to be service, so i rang up costomer care and they did nothing to help my so i am fuminmg.

all microsoft products stink. Macintosh should make a system. That would be awesome. I hear way more microsoft problems than apple problems, if any. Me and my friend both get the " I need help Xbox starts disk button turns red and screen comes up saying i need service
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! " problem. Also, all our controllers are broken now. None of them let you turn right on the analogue stick as fast as they should.

I think I have a problem with my X-box.When I try to play my Ninja Gaiden and go to the New Game or when I wait to show the Team Ninja logo a message appears saying: "There's a problem with the disc you're using. It may be dirty or damaged."This message only appears in Ninja Gaiden and I don't know if can be a problem on my x-box or why he don't accept the Ninja Gaiden.Someone knows what is the problem? Please, help me.

I have purchased 2 xboxes and both now neither work, the last one was only a couple of months old. I called the xbox support about the problem they say its the hard drive and It will cost me $ 80.00 to fix it. These unit only come with a 90 day warranty. So you pay all this money for the unit and they are only going to work for 90 days before you have to spend more money on them to make them work. This is very wrong. They need to fix the hard drive problem that they know they have with these units for free!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had my XBOX since it first came out. It worked fine the first year but after that I often got the messege that there was a problem and my disk must be dirty or damaged. Only the disk was not. It only happens when I am playing newer games(Madden). I Just got True Crimes of NYC and I can not even get through the first load page.

Please help cause it is a real bitch

I have the sam e problem with 2 machines I was told by xbox it's the harddrive and if you have owned it more than 90days it costs 80 plus shipping for them to fix it. They don't stand behind thier products thats why I didn't buy a 360 and refuse to because if they stand behind the ones that have been out what are they goingt to do about the new ones.

you are not the only ones who have this problem. i know alot of people who have had this problem. the reasons of this happening may include: you hitting the xbox in anger, the age of the xbox( i swear to god they are made to die after the warranty.) or something fried it like an electrical serge. unfortunatelty the only thing you can do to fix this would be: get a new harddrive. its the hardrive. if it was the disk drive it would show: the disc is dirty or damaged. if it was the mother board then it wouldnt even turn on.

i reccomend getting a new xbox seing as though it will cost half the price of the xbox to fix it. and if you worried about your memory and all of yuor hard work going to waste. then get a memory card. or get a specialist to put the files on yuor new harddrive. but be warned if the xbox is ever opened it is a risk only to be done by a professional. (if not youll risk what happened to me, it killed the hard drive) not to mention the warranty is gone when you do this.

as a last resort if you wish you can buy a hard drive and do it yourself, with the aid of a website that gives you step by step instructions. you will also need SPECIAL screws to do this.

call 18004myxbox customer support and tell them that you know about the first batch if yours is manufactured in 2001. they usually say your xbox is still under warranty even tho its far beyond out of warranty.if it doesnt work call back cause you may have got a rude one.they are doing this cause they dont want a lawsuit because they didnt do a recall on defective systems like they should have so in order to save money they rip off enough people to only have to fix half the boxes but we cant let them do that.

also there has been a recall on the xbox cables from xboxes made before 2003 so make sure u call customer support asap about there replacement cables as the original cables have been lighting on fire burning marks on rugs and giving owners minor burns.they have recalled ALL cables for xboxes made BEFORE 2003 call and they will send the new cables that have this odd thing at the end with a reset button like in your bathroom outlets.its free and if your xbox isnt registered they will do that for you.

I had my xbox for 2weeks when it stopped reading discs (xbox, DVD, CD), I called xbox support and they told me I'd have to send it in (at my expense) to have it serviced. I just got it back with a note saying they replaced by Xbox unit with a new one. Unfortunately the fist time I tried to use it I realized the button to sync the wireless controller on the console is jammed and won't recognize my wireless controller so it doesn't work at all. I called xbox support again and after speaking with some dud who was about to send me a new controller, finally spoke to a supervisor who admitted that it was a defective console I'd received and I'd have to send it back again. Unbelievable! If anyone out there is contemplating buying an xbox 360 - DON'T!!! Do yourself a huge favor and buy a PS3 or PS2 or Wii. The xbox360 is a piece of junk, and Microsoft can't make a gaming console to save its life! And the xbox support staff have managed to bring a new meaning to incompetance! Heed my warning! You'll thank me later!!!!!!!

I had the same problem. Fortunately there are a couple of Xbox technicians around my area who could help look at the problem. However, these problems are not worth the wait and it drives me nuts. PS2 is the way to go!
