Problem in Upgrading from win nt to win 2000 domain   Post Reply

Emoticon The problem is i hav a domain in win nt 4.0 & today i upgraded it to .
Win 2000 but issue is i hav sme server on win nt 4 there are not able to find domain
error is cmng like no domain controller is found . Is it neccesaary to have 2000 on every workstation on lan cause domain is available only to machines with 2000 on it .
Other machines whcih are on nt 4 are not able to log on to network can anyone help me about this .

If I understand what you are saying.. and I hope I am if you are running a win 2000 server it will host your winnt 4.0 pcs as long as you have set up your domain right, what I mean by right is the naming of your server has to be setup using the winnt naming setup.

Now if you just up graded your winnt 4.0 workstation to win 2000 you should be up and running on the network if you are not you need to check all of your ip address setting and your subnet mask so it is right for domain.

I hope this helped you out if you can give me some more detail about the problem I will help you out a bit more.
