I have a similar problem but what happens is my internet explorer simply won't load any pages. I don't get a page not found message or anything of the like. The browser window opens but nothing loads. This started just a few days ago and ever since I cannot access the internet at all. Luckily I have internet at work or I wouldn't be able to send this. By the way, I'm running XP and have double checked that I am connected to the internet. In fact, it's said I have an outstanding connection. What's doubly weird is I can sign on to American Online but not load anything in there on the web either. I've checked my firewall settings but nothing has ever been changed. If I knew a program to download I could do that on another computer and transfer with a cd rom perhaps.

I have similar problem as blondiebachus. IE7 loads but returns a Can not load page error on whatever address I type in. Blondiebachus, did you get your problem resolved? If so, how?? If not, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. I've run Ad-Aware, Spybot, a full scan with AVG, and I'm up-to-date with Spywareblaster. I've also attempted the 'Reset' from within IE7, and I'm still getting the Can't load page error. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

My problem is close to what I have read. However, when I click on the internet, it will load sometimes, then on other times, I have to load it and it sits there. In a minute or so I have to go to task manager and it says not responding. I have to end program and repeat the start up. Sometimes it works on the second, sometimes it takes many to pull up the page. I have tried adware and spybot. Also the windows live onecare safety scanner. Still seem to have this intermittent problem. Any suggestions???

First, clean out your internet temp files. Additionally, it may be a problem more with your connection rather than with your computer. Check with your ISP to see if there are any problems with the DHCP server you connect to.

I have exactly the same problem, Robby65737, it's very irritating. I have not found a solution for this myself. I run Vista with MacAfee AV. My workaround is to use Firefox. I also set Firefox as my default browser so that if I want to open a link in an email I'm sure I will get to the linked page. I'll post here if I find a real fix for this.

As promised. I finally solved my problem with IE being difficult to open. Along the way I was offered and installed Yahoo and Google toolbars. I uninstalled Yahoo with no effect. But after I uninstalled the Google toolbar the problem was solved. Hope this helps others who may be experiencing the same problems.

If none of that is working, try this:

1. Go to command prompt (Windows Key+ R, type "cmd" without quotes)
2. Type in the following, while pressing "ENTER" at the end of it:
cd\
cls
netsh winsock reset catalog
3. It should now say to restart windows... DO NOT RESTART YET!!!
4. Now type: netsh int ip reset reset.log
5. press enter, then type "exit", and then restart the computer. Now it should work (Hopefully)
