I got a computer from a friend, he had no HD in it. I put a HD in it and installed Windows 2000 first and then from there installed Windows XP pro. And when i try to log in right after "welcome" window it says "A problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. Eror Code: 0x80070002" I did a little reserch and all i could find is thishttp://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/community/tips/xp/partitn/default.aspx it talks about Target Designer but where can i find/run it? Also all i could do is log in in Safe Mode and i got no internet on that comp. Could someone help me out with this problem please.

Well - when you boot into Safe Mode, none of the device drivers are loaded. So that is why you don't have internet, becuase the NIC is not enabled. Try to enable the NIC in Safe Mode so that you can get a contection to the Internet and go from there.

I connected my disk on another computer and let northon antivirus do a scan. Did not find any virusses, but lots of adware. Deleted the possible stuff (61 of 178). Now i can log in and let spybot running. IT WORKS!!!!!!!!
I think it would be better to run adaware in stead of NAV. Try it and let me know

I 've finaly a solution:
connect the disk to an existing computer with northon anitvirus installed.
run it and delete all the infected files with adware.
reconnect the disk and run it. Nothing will functioning well! But you can do an upgrade of your xp to xp Emoticon
then install the fixes

"a problem is preventing Windows from accurately checking the licence"

To fix that problem,

Open your computer in safe mode,

open a command promt

Register the following DLL s

it should be in the %system root% \ system32 folder

just type the following statements one by one and see you got success information popup

regsvr32 licwmi.dll

regsvr32 regwizc.dll

regsvr32 licdll.dll

regsvr32 jscript.dll

regsvr32 vbscript.dll

regsvr32 msxml.dll

regsvr32 shdocvw.dll

regsvr32 softpub.dll

regsvr32 wintrust.dll

regsvr32 initpki.dll

regsvr32 dssenh.dll

regsvr32 rsaenh.dll

regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll

regsvr32 sccbase.dll

regsvr32 slbcsp.dll

regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

then try to restart,

I have done that in windows 2003 standart edittion server, and succeeded.

Good luck

Hi

I have the following coming up on my computer too. Any chance that you could explain it step by step in simple terms as I am a bit of a novice on the computer. I would be very grateful!

I found a posting that suggested doing only the following three (sorry, tried to find it again but could not) and that is what worked for me:

Open your computer in safe mode,
open a command prompt

Register the following DLL s

They should be in the %system root% \ system32 folder

just type the following statements one by one, hit ENTER after each, of course:

regsvr32 licwmi.dll

regsvr32 regwizc.dll

regsvr32 licdll.dll

I see that this problem has gotten attention over more than four years so I would like to suggest a freeware program than would solve this and many other glitches one might encounter while in this gerbil cage known as windoz: erunt. No nags, etc., etc., etc.
Google it, easy to use and, if you are able to get to safe mode, easy to restore you PC to a previous state... MUCH much better than a win restore point, which I disabled.

I have the same problem on a XP system.

I tried the registering the listed DLLs and all but two succeeded. These are:

slbcsp.dll
shdocvm.dll

On reboot the problem still persists. Is there another fix? Will erunt work already from the problem state to restoring the registry?

Thanks. This is a persistent problem for me.

I have been able to register all the DLLs, and I am still having the problem.

I have run the command ren "C:Windows\system32\catroot2\Edb.log *.tst"

I have verified these files:

Windows\System32\secupd.dat
Windows\System32\oembios.dat
Windows\System32\oembios.bin

I do not think the hard drive letter has been changed.

Sahan, YOU ABSOLUTELY ROCK! I went to bed last night worried about my computer and having to spend a bunch of $ to get it fixed (I just got laid off two weeks ago)...I woke up after only 4 hours of sleep and decided to try a find a fix myself one more time...found your post and WHAM! IT WORKED! Thank you so much for posting this bang-on information for ignorant users like myself. MAJOR KUDOS TO YOU, MY FRIEND! CHEERS, Mate! The only thing I forgot was that my HDTV does not support SAFE MODE, so I had to drag out the huge relic of a monitor. LOL
