I'm getting a similiar problem which is very annoying. About 5/10 minutes into loading up the computer everything works fine and then suddenly the screen goes blank and the dreaded power save message appears if I press the menu button. I've switched power save off in the control panel but it still occurs, could this be linked to the fact that the fan stopped working on my graphics card? Also there's a dodgy plug in the back of my computer, so I use the other one for my monitor cable, but could it be dodgy too? How am I going to prevent this Power Save rubbish? Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I can only get the computer to work again if I switch it off at the wall and leave it for 5 minutes or repeatadly press the monitor on button till it works again.

i have a similar problem, while only playing half-life, csEmoticon, tf2 ect. my computer will go into power save mode. it started doing this after i installed a geforce 9600, ive updated the drvier, tried 2 different power supplies (both doing the same thing) a 400w and a 600w. and if i put my geforce 8600 back in it runs fine. i do run 2 monitors, but it still goes into power save mode if i only run one. any help or ideas would be appreciated.
system: windows xp, home edition, version 2002, service pack 2.
emachines t6410 amd 64 3200+, 2.19 GHz, 1.50 Gb of ram.

I have also a similar problem by which I feel extremely frustrated. It will crash into Power Saving mode randomly at any time and sometimes will not even start up at all but show power saving mode immediately after turning on the tower. Did you ever find an acceptable solution? Anyone else have any good advice (I will make sure power save mode is off when and if I am able to turn the computer on again for more than five minutes!)

Thank you

My computer is experiencing a similar problem. My power save settingas are all correct. The monitor is workign fine. So not sure what to truy next. One week ago, I installed "Luxor by Mumbo Jumbo" Seems like the problem started then. I have since unistalled Luxor, but the problem is still there. Screen just goes blank for a few seconds, then comes back, then blank, then back... than after awhile, screen goes blank and indicates it is in the powersave mode. pressing a key or moving a mouse does nothing... Only thing I can do i**** the power buttone and reboot. Help Please!

I had the same issue almost, but the message i'm getting is that right off the bat when i power up the pc and the monitor, the monitor displays the text "WARNING: Pc has entered power saver mode" and I can't get into windows ctrl panel to fix it, or adjust my power schemes. So how am I supposed to fix such an issue?

Sorry to get back to you so late. The problem was the video card. It seems to be pretty common. If you havent already, take it back and get the 8800 or 9800.

someone wanna help me? my computer overheated, and keeps going into power save mode after being on for about 20 seconds. It won't let me run it on safe mode before it enters power save. My graphics card is what overheated, is my graphics card shot or something? would the graphics card cause it to go into power save mode like that?

Based on your description, it sounds like it's time to replace the graphics card.

Okay, everyone I have am answer to your power save mode problems. According to my computer guru, your processor is bad. If you are in the middle of a game, correspondence, etc and your system goes into power mode then you need to have a new processor installed. Power save mode is generated when your monitor does not receive a signal from your processor and turns your monitor off and your system just stops. I had this problem until we installed a new motherboard and processor, now my system works like a charm.
