What you need to do is network the two PC's together via your hub (if you plan to add any more computers) or directly with a crossover cable to a network card in each PC, and take the hub back to the salesman. You then need some Internet connection sharing software such as the excellent Sygate to share the connection between the two computers (the Windows 98 ICS utility is about as useful as a chocolate teapot). If your ADSL connection is via a cable modem, a DSL router would do the same job with less fiddling about. Netgear and Linksys make some very good kit, reasonably priced, for just this purpose - I know, because I've used both. A four-port unit is probably less to buy than the Intel hub and the extra software together. If your ADSL connection is a USB device, then the hub and software approach is the one to go for, as the aforementioned routers don't accept USB connections as far as I know.
      Hope this helps.

Hi , but this certinaly means that the speed will be shared among two PC's? waiting for reply

Hi,
My problem is a 3rd pc. I have a cable modem and a netgear router. I have 2 pc's connected to the router via ethernet and both work perfectly. The problem is when I connect a 3rd pc via ethernet all of the pc's commence to lose connection. I can connect to the internet on all of them but they will all keep dropping and I can not figure out why or how to solve this problem. I have tried going wireless but as my house has plaster walls it was impossible to get a signal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
