Anyone know anything good about BC?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that Windows on the desktop will never be 64 bit. Thats just the nature of things. I don't think it will be too long before we are at 128 bit Windows. Can you imagine that CPU? Sweeeeeeet.

oh man! Now they changed it to Longhorn just after I had decided to start calling it "BC," and to try to get everyone else in the industry to follow:-) Oh well, any one for LH?? nah...

TEXAS TEXAS TEXAS!!! Thats an awesome codename. And you know what Texas is going to win the National Championship this year. You heard it here first.

Pacific, whatever . . . We all know it's named after the mighty Texas Longhorns. We are doing a beta test for MS right now at UT. And their guy even said it was being name after Texas. So any name association with the "longhorn saloon" is off base. :)

Fat64..lol

Longhorn may still have support for fat32\ntfs5.1
Blackcomb will have a file system run by a kernel sql like engine.

Is that for real? I read the article on the register about it but I am not sure that it will actually work in reality. Is this something that MS is actually doing or some imaginary made up hoopla?

What the hell are u guys talking about? Blackcomb is Longhorns successor and blackcomb is still in planning NOT internal alpha. Blackcomb will be the final element to get the .net framework in use it will be completly restructed and redesigned using a YUKON filesystem some say this is fat64 which it isnt. Most of the features you people are discussin are longhorn's features such as the d3d desktop, please get the facts straight blackcomb's features havent even been released yet were talking a OS that isnt even scheduled for 8+ years release time.
Please let me reply on this. There is no possible way, anybody got accepted for a BlackComb alpha beta test. BlackComb has a long way to go before any beta relations will be informed about any action taken by the windowsBeta team. So please don't get these rumours into the world. One hin*bleep*ch out for Windows Longhorn. Alpha releases have been tested and reviews can be found on the internet!
Wow we got the Brian Valentine to reply in our group[emote|:)] Now ponders if we can get more info about Avalon, and the Managed Platform SDK. [emote|:)] The WinFS. And how do we get on the beta for Longhorn, Yukon and the VS.net for Yukon[emote|:)] El
